High School Aid Station Challenge
Congratulations to Palmer at No Name Creek who was the $2,250 Challenge winner this year.
They went all toga on us but it was the ice they provided that sealed the deal.
2nd place and $1,500 went to Woodland Park at Bobs Road.
3rd and $1,000 went to Widefield at Barr Camp.
4th and $750 went to Doherty at the Incline Overlook.
5th place and $500 went to Manitou Springs at the Start/Finish.
Fundraising
Breakdown of the money the 2009 Barr Trail Mountain Race raised and donated:
El Paso County Search and Rescue: $6,692.32
Friends of the Peak: $6,557.79
The six high schools: $6,000
Total donations: $19,250.11 or $42.87 per registrant, $54.38 per finisher!
Great sponsors made this possible because the average entry fee was only $22.67 bringing in $10,180,
all of which was donated, and yet there were many expenses with T-shirts alone costing $4,156.24 along with $3,200 in prize money and primes,
$563.41 for awards, $555.09 for finisher medals, and $465 for pizza.
